Architectural and Home Design Ideas for Family Homes in Los Angeles

home design 800 sq feet

If you use the plan set from San Diego County, they include foundation plans, electrical plans, roof plans, floor plans and elevation drawings. Once you have ADU floor plans you like, you want to find a permit checklist for your local planning department. Homeowners often ask if they can download some floor plans and use those to submit for permits. To help, I’ve pulled some information together about how to use floor plans and design drawings, and what the next steps are before you can submit for a permit. Space-efficient appliances, specifically designed for small homes, are a boon for a home this size.

The Dwell House Is a Modern Prefab ADU Delivered to Your Backyard

Despite the high price of bathroom renovation, there are some ways to save without having to do all the work yourself. Brass and stainless steel are popular materials, though copper can add a touch of luxury. Chrome and metallic finishes are the most common, but a matte black finish provides a bold look that can be echoed in cabinet hardware. Sign up for our email to enjoy Los Angeles without spending a thing (as well as some options when you’re feeling flush). One of the key starting points when finding the perfect place for your family home is to find out how much the current tax rate is. Additionally, find out if it has increased in the last five yearsand whether there is another expected increase.

Square Foot House Plans

This customizable plan is ideal for hosting visitors or simply enjoying an escape. From traditional looks to more stylistic choices, sinks can function as a bathroom’s focal point. The cost to install a sink averages between $300 to $4,000 for a standard bathroom. Sinks can be installed within a countertop, vanity, or attached to a wall. Your costs will also increase with multiple sink options, such as a dual sink installation.

Room Features

In the ADU, a multipurpose, greenhouse-inspired sunroom serves as both a dining patio and an extension of the kitchen, with new millwork concealing a washer/dryer station. You will save a lot of money by reading articles like this and consulting ADU specialists ahead of time. After all it’s your house - your ability to utilize the actual dimensions is protected. Now if you do what I’m doing in this section (copy) a plan and it’s protected (registered after the 1990 copyright act) then that’s against the law. You can understand why the city or county want to know all this, but you can also understand how it’s impractical to buy this off a website from a person who has never visited your property. You tell them you’re thinking about building an ADU and want to talk to them before getting too far into the process.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

You’ll also need to deal with contractors coming in and out of your home for several weeks. Barring any large scheduling or supply problems, hiring a professional will get your bathroom remodeling job done faster. Experienced contractors have the training and equipment to get the job done properly, giving you peace of mind. You can also consider some niche upgrades to make your bathroom more luxurious.

About Plan # 120-2655

Both elegant and modern, this open floor plan cottage provides 815 square feet of living space. On the exterior, a pergola welcomes guests indoors and creates a focal point. This home is anchored by the main living space that includes a kitchen with an island, a dining space, and a living room, as well as a closet for the washer and dryer. The primary suite is secluded, offering the owners privacy when guests are in town. A see-through wood fireplace contributes to the openness of the space, as well.

Wide windows frame the architect’s built-in desk, which overlooks the water. Opposite the workstation, a single bunk that doubles as a couch folds down from the wall. Inspired by the design of space capsules, Hello Wood’s Workstation Cabin is a timber-clad geometric pod that can fit up to six people. The uniquely shaped prefab ADU can be used as a guesthouse, office, or hangout—and it can be easily installed in a backyard.

Plan Site

To the right side of the home, two bedrooms are conveniently situated, with access to a shared bathroom. A family or couple hosting guests will enjoy this compact property that feels larger than it is. Since bathroom remodeling projects can encompass everything from installing a few new fixtures to overhauling the room’s floor plan, they have a wide price range. For example, remodeling a half-bath is lowest on the cost spectrum, while remodeling a luxury or primary bathroom is highest. The specific aspects you choose to update will also play a large role in both the cost and the projected ROI of your remodel. The 1,178-square-foot ADU replaced the existing garage’s 20-by-30 foot footprint.

This includes whether your desired location will positively add to the resale value of your home if you decide to put it on the market. Note that safe neighborhoods with easy access to quality home amenities are desired by homeowners looking to purchase a house and can greatly influence the property’s resale value. The ADU’s entrance opens to the kitchen and dining areas, which are flanked by a bathroom and bedroom on either side. Grey utilized smart space-saving techniques, such as a sliding door in the bedroom that reveals a desk tucked away in the closet.

Despite the home’s small size, this suite includes space for a sitting area, ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or winding down after a long day. Upstairs, guests or kids can relax in two additional bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The upper level also includes plenty of versatile bonus space and access to the spacious deck. With its large veranda and European details, this small, Swiss-style cottage is undoubtedly as charming as a traditional mountain cabin.

If you aren’t sure, building departments typically have a handout they will give you listing all of the items they require to submit for and obtain a building permit. Functionality meets creativity in the interior design of 800-square-foot house plans. Light colors, whether used on walls, ceilings, or floors, reflect light and give an illusion of expanded space. As mentioned earlier, incorporating mirrors and reflective surfaces in your décor can further enhance this effect. This quaint cottage combines the space-saving features of a small home with the advantages of a convenient open floor plan.

A new outdoor area complete with a sprawling patio and pool was constructed along with the 672-square-foot ADU. The open kitchen and living room opens to a terrace, while a bedroom tucked behind the main communal space connects to a private deck. When the pandemic prevented Claudia Buchanan and her family from spending time with her mother, Alice Marozas, they all decided it was time to rethink the way they live. Their solution was to add a 900-square-foot prefab ADU by Cover to their Brentwood backyard, allowing Alice to be close by while still enjoying some privacy. The walls, roof, floors, and foundation of Northwood ADU are all prefabricated. T+E+A+M selected the building materials based on their production and panel sizes to minimize waste and increase efficiency.

Let’s say you have plans that you’re ready to submit to the city or county. While you’re doing this work, these ADU plans can also help you with your planning and design. Another example of a typical requirement for a planning or building permit is elevation drawings (internal conversions like garage, basement or spare room conversions are often an exception to this). Site plans (or plot plans) will show how your proposed project will interact with existing conditions on the property and on neighboring properties. And an honorable mention from Hawaii where they’ve put a floor plan book together using San Diego’s plans, among others.

On the ground level, an open-plan, double-height living space is surrounded by sliding glass doors that open to a Japanese-style engawa deck. Upstairs, two bedrooms are connected by a bridge that overlooks the living room, and a rooftop deck creates additional space for entertaining. Also, consider adopting an open floor plan, which is essentially an architectural arrangement in which multiple rooms are combined to create a larger, more open space. Open-concept 800 sq ft house plans are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to foster a sense of spaciousness and fluidity.

Cottage-style home plans in tree-lined streets across the city remarkably serve the same modest residential function. Homes of this nature embrace asymmetry and featuresteep gable rooflines, welcoming arched doors, casement windows with small panes, large central chimneys, and natural stone, brick, or stucco siding. A standout design where various features blend, contemporary is a very prevalent style across Los Angeles. The house plan maintains a basic symmetrical exterior but interiors tend to be more spacious and brighter. And giventhe colonial architectural style homes’ straightforward and extremely versatile layout, it makes it possible to adopt distinct characteristics and aesthetic variation.

One popular high-end remodeling project is converting a bathroom into a wet room, allowing you to open up the shower area for a larger, spa-like feel. This involves waterproofing the entire bathroom, including installing new flooring and tile and replumbing. You may opt for concrete flooring to complement an industrial-style bathroom or hardwood flooring to align with darker decor. Homeowners can also splurge on luxurious options such as bamboo or radiant (heated) flooring. You could pay an average of $12 per square foot for new tiles or flooring, but your room size and chosen material will affect the final price.

The Loud House TV Series 2014

loud house movie

The rest of the Louds and Angus quickly rush to the castle, having witnessed Lincoln, Morag and Lela crashing there. Arriving in the courtyard, they spot the unconscious Lincoln and rush over to him, but are suddenly stopped by the still-possessed Lela. Morag and Lela trap them in a corner, and Morag orders Lela to kill them all with her fire breath. Luckily, Lincoln, having regained consciousness, quickly jumps into the line of fire with the crown before Lela can fire, prompting Morag to hastily stop Lela from attacking. He quickly runs through the hole they crashed through earlier, and as Lela crawls through, her large size causes the damaged wall to collapse, stopping the family and Angus from reaching them.

Explaining the News to Our Kids

Later that night, Lucy, trying to contact her deceased ancestors, successfully summons the ghost of the ancestor she resembles, Lucille. The Loud children head back to the town on a rowboat and team up to defeat Morag and un-hypnotize Lela. The sisters eventually get the scepter back and Lincoln, using his magic skills and with help from Lily, destroys the Dragon Stone, which breaks Lela out of her spell. The citizens of Loch Loud congratulate the family and ask Lincoln to resume his place as the duke of the kingdom, though Lincoln declines and instead offers the crown to Angus instead, feeling he deserves it more. Lincoln admits to the family he wishes he were special as his sisters, though his sisters tell him that he is special because he takes care of them, and the family happily hugs.

Lincoln asks Angus if he knows any more info about their ancestors, and he proceeds to show them a painting of their ancestors, which looks exactly like the Loud family (one son and ten daughters). As the parents and sisters proceed to look around the castle, Lincoln asks if the sisters in the painting were special, and Angus agrees, but before he could explain further, the sisters tell Lincoln to come look at what they found. Arriving to a hallway, he discovers that each of the sisters has their own bedroom, complete with a working toilet. At that moment, Lynn and Lana come in and, after complimenting Lincoln for such a huge room, ask Angus why there's are a lot of dragon imagery in the castle, and he proceeds to show them. Landing in the courtyard, the Louds thank Lela for saving Lincoln and Lily, and the citizens arrive, thanking the Louds for saving their home and apologizing to Lincoln for doubting him.

As they exit the sub to look around, Lori tries to call Bobby about it, but the reception becomes distorted, causing Bobby to think that Lori is saying she's breaking up with him. With some encouragement from Ronnie Anne, Bobby decides to go to Scotland himself to reunite with Lori. After helping repair the village, the Loud family says goodbye to Angus and the villagers and sets sail back home to Royal Woods. Inside the castle, Lucy is attempting to make contact with her deceased ancestors, and successfully makes contact with one of them. Later, after having woken up her entire family and bringing them to the main lobby, Lucy introduces them to Lucille Loud, her ancestral double in looks and behavior. This causes the family to be mesmerized by her appearance, expect for Lynn Sr., as he knocks himself out due to his fear of ghosts.

Lincoln finally confesses to them that the reason he feels this way is because they're all talented in some way and are constantly praised as a result; winning trophies and getting recognized, while he has nothing to show, making him feel like he's not special as them. However, the sisters tell him that he is special, as he's always looking out for them every single day, and that's why he's the most special brother to them. Moved by their words, Lincoln declares that he's good with that and, after Lily tells Lincoln that she loves him, the family engages in a group hug. Sometime later, as Lela sadly lies in her cave, Morag arrives with a wheelbarrow of garbage and gives it to Lela, where she begins to eat it, causing her to grow larger. In the castle, Lincoln has buried his face in a pillow, upset that he's now seen as an embarrassment to the people. Suddenly, Lincoln family enters and, after asking if he's alright, tell him that tomorrow, they're going to help him rebuild the town.

Realizing he's outnumbered, Lincoln proceeds to guilt trip them by feigning sadness and lamenting that they can go back home once their vacation ends, "to our house with one bathroom." This one comment alone horrifies the family to the point that they immediately change their mind and decide to move to Scotland. Lela, having caught the the crown with her tail, hands it to Lincoln so he can resume his duties as the duke. Angus initially declines the offer, believing he's just a simple groundskeeper, but after being told by the citizens how much he does for the town, and with the blessing of all the ghosts of the Louds' ancestors (especially the Duke), Angus agrees to take on the new role. Lela then takes Morag and drops her off on a small rock island far away from Loch Loud, inhabited by a family of constantly-barking seals. The sisters compliment Lincoln by saying that passing the crown to Angus was so honorable of him.

What Lincoln is successful at is getting audiences excited to see how his eagerness to be a Scottish duke will play out and that makes waiting for August 20 to roll around more difficult. The next day, as Morag laments having to put up with the Loud kids' shenanigans, Lincoln goes around Loch Loud, trying to get the villagers to support him as the new duke, which he at first attempts by giving them free breakfast burritos and showing off his magic tricks. Angus reminds him that what he should do is put the citizens' needs before his, and Lincoln manages to win the villagers' favor by fixing the broken half of a bridge ("I'm Gonna Be the Duke"). However, Morag ruins the moment by reminding Lincoln that he is only staying in Scotland for a week. Taking a suggestion from Angus, Lincoln makes a slideshow presentation convincing his family that they should just move to Scotland (the clincher being that he reminds them that their house back in Royal Woods only has one bathroom).

As Lincoln shows off some tricks to the people, Morag, hiding in an alley, places the Dragon Stone into the royal scepter, and at that moment, Lela becomes hypnotized by the stone's power and begins flying in whichever direction Morag moves the scepter, which Lincoln can't control. After causing enough damage, Morag makes Lela land, and when Lincoln jumps off, he discovers the amount of damage caused and tries to keep the people happy that he can fix it. However, after a botched attempt to fix things results in the Chip Shoppe getting destroyed, the furious townsfolk immediately turn against him, angrily chewing him out because how his little stunt resulted in the destruction of their town. As his concerned family follows him, Morag takes the Dragon Stone out of the royal scepter, causing Lela to revert back to normal, and shamefully flies away.

Suddenly, Lincoln witnesses Lily approaching, and proceeds to stall Morag by telling her that he's actually a talented magician, as he begins showing off some of his magic tricks. Morag, after lamenting that all she ever wanted was peace and quiet, reaches her wit's end and proceeds to fight the crown out of Lincoln's hands. However, during their scuffle, the three accidentally fall off the cliff, about to plunge into the waters below them. As Lincoln and Lily embrace themselves for impact, Lela swiftly catches them (on her back) and Morag (with her claws) and flies them back at the castle, where the Louds and Angus witness their arrival. Morag, having been alerted to the Loud kids' return, rides on Lela to investigate and tells the Loud kids to show themselves. This ranges from Luan making insulting jokes about Morag, Luna blasting her and Lela with her speakers, Lori and Lynn hurling golf balls and soccer balls at her, Leni tossing a giant tarp onto her and Lela's head, and Lola blinding Morag with her shiny teeth (magnified by Lisa's glasses).

Lincoln says that he and Lily will practice their trick instead, but when Angus says that doing his duties will make the people happy, as they've been waiting for 400 years for a new duke, Lincoln immediately rescinds his last statement and agrees to help out. As the Louds enter the Scottish town, they ask a nearby fisherman on where they can find Loud relatives, and the fisherman responds by running away while frantically saying their last name, much to their bewilderment. As they venture around the town, they discover other oddities, like a door built much higher than the sidewalk, the signs being too jumbled to be comprehended, and the bell tower using a small bell instead of a giant one.

As she cleans, she begins to lament to a portrait of her ancestor, Aggie, who was responsible for driving the Louds' ancestors away 400 years ago in order to achieve peace and quiet. As Morag continues to suffer from the kids' shenanigans (while also reminding herself it's only for one week), Lincoln announces to Angus his plans on becoming the duke. However, Morag ruins the moment by revealing that Lincoln is only staying in Scotland for a week, causing the citizens to believe they celebrated with a tourist and not a permanent resident. At Angus' suggestion, Lincoln tries to convince his family that they should move to Scotland. Using a slideshow presentation, Lincoln explains that moving to Scotland is a good thing as they found themselves and their culture here, and that if they stay, they can get all the fame and adoration they want. Lynn Sr. immediately approves of this decision, but the girls are unconvinced, mainly because they know that Lincoln only wants this to be in a position of power, and because they have lives in Royal Woods regarding their friends and school.

Morag pretends that she doesn't know anything regarding their past, and hides Aggie's journal from their sight, but the two spooky girls state that they'll still keep their eyes on her. She commends Luna for her musical ability and tells her that the females of her ancestors were highly beloved because of their quirks and talents. She goes on and says that she and her other sisters should present their talents to the citizens of Loch Loud so they can let their true selves be known to the public. Meanwhile, in Lincoln's room, Lincoln and Lily are showing Angus a magic trick where they swap the crown with a breakfast burrito. Once they complete the trick, Angus asks Lincoln if he's ready for his royal duties today.

Soon after, a full-blown coronation is held for Lincoln officially becoming the new duke. During the ceremony, however, Morag is noticeably reluctant to crown Lincoln, and Lucille, observing from above, is baffled when Morag mentions that the royal family from 400 years ago got lost during a boat trip. In Nickelodeon's The Loud House Movie, the biggest family on television goes on the biggest Loud family vacation ever!

When they go there, they realize that said ancestors were also royalty and the family takes the opportunity to indulge themselves in the royal life with Lincoln being crowned Duke. Little do the Louds know is that the castle’s caretaker Morag is planning against them. Upon arrival, the Louds discover their ancestral home is a castle – and the whole town is named for them. Lincoln dedicates himself to making the town a better place in an effort to have himself coronated as the duke, and even tries to convince his family to move to Scotland.

Before long, the citizens begin to converge on the Louds, and one of the citizens asks them if they're really Louds, to which the family agrees. This causes the citizen to tell them that they're in the town of Loch Loud, which is named after their ancestors some 400 years ago. After he and the rest of the citizens explain their history ("This Town Is Named for You"), he guides them to the castle where their ancestors once lived. Once they arrive, the citizen introduces himself as Angus, the Loch Loud groundskeeper, and once they enter the castle, they meet Morag, the castle's caretaker.

The 2020 revival of Perry Mason featured a premise based loosely on the murder of Marion Parker. Parker Center is often mentioned in the novels of the Harry Bosch series written by Michael Connelly, the Shane Scully series written by Stephen J. Cannell, and the Elvis Cole and Joe Pike series by Robert Crais. The Parker Center appears in several establishing shots for the Perry Mason between 1958 and 1966. The NBC drama Hunter used the Parker Center in the sixth and seventh seasons. Parker Center is the location of the Priority Homicide Division, and later Major Crimes, in the television series The Closer. At age 69, the last chapter in her life was being written upon his death.

Holt later claimed that she "never would have let Marion go but for the apparent sincerity and disarming manner of the man." Parker was reported missing later that day. Parker Center appears in the police procedural media franchise Dragnet, beginning with the fifth season of the 1955 television series. It was most prominent in the 1966 television series, where it appeared in a majority of episodes as the headquarters of most divisions except the Juvenile Division. In 2023, Mount Vernon launched the Mansion Revitalization Project to ensure the long-term health of George Washington’s home. As is standard before any major construction at Mount Vernon, archaeological investigations have preceded all parts of the project that involve breaking ground. Mount Vernon has embarked on a landmark preservation project to ensure the Mansion's structural integrity for generations to come.

In George Washington’s time, the cellar was used for a variety of functions, including the storage of supplies and foodstuffs. Independent, local journalism isn't cheap, but with your support we can keep delivering it. Dragnet has been criticized for glamorizing the LAPD, while in the real L.A., brutal, racist police tactics were being imposed on the city's communities of color and tensions would boil over -- more than once. Ray Pinker would be portrayed by Jack Webb in the 1947 film He Walked By Night.

His character would later inspire Webb when he created the 1950s TV series Dragnet. Part of that vision, Schave said, was a headquarters wired from "head-to-toe." And it was. Fewer than four decades later, the Parker Center would become the focal point for the unbridled rage of a community after four LAPD officers were acquitted of assault charges in the beating of Rodney King. When the Los Angeles Police Departent's new headquarters opened in 1955, the West Coast Modernist structure was the physical embodiment of Chief William H. Parker's dream of a nationally recognized monument to modern policing.

The 1992 riots were not the first time the Parker Center became the focus of community frustration. Throughout the 1980s, activists from communities of color gathered in front of the building to protest police tactics. Schave pointed to "haunting" images of crowds gathered at Parker Center. Police officers stood in formation as demonstrations grew and turned violent. Parker Center would become ground zero for the protests and rioting that began after the infamous 1992 verdict in the beating of Rodney King, in which four LAPD officers were acquitted of assault charges. Chief Parker, understanding the value good public relations would have for the department, opened LAPD files to Webb.

Within months, she decided to abandon California for good and return to her beloved New York. Almost exactly four year later, Dorothy Parker would die of a heart attack on June 7, 1967. Summer House Recap, Season 8, Ep 10: The Parent Trap

danielle summer house

Bravo's Summer House is back with its second season and that means that there are new roomies moving into the weekend abode. One of those new Summer House cast members is Danielle Olivera. She may be just starting on the show, but she is very familiar with her co-star Carl Radke. They used to date, according to her cast biography on Bravo's website. The fashion app co-founder made her mom’s empanada recipe (which originally came from Danielle’s grandmother) for the festivities.

Danielle Olivera works as a product manager and she's working on an app

"I just have, like, a very strict Zoom schedule, like back to back," Olivera explained. "There was a Wifi situation and I had to get an extender," she added, noting that the internet connection in the Hamptons is slow. But that’s not the real concern of the fight, which is actually about Paige being mad at Danielle for saying that she gives Craig nothing. Paige tells Danielle that she made Gabby cry, and Danielle says, “That’s stupid.” Paige tells Danielle that she’s the moral compass, and if people don’t agree, then she gets mad about it. She’s using Gabby as an example, but that’s only because she wants to keep her one-legged silver jumper and reputation clean.

Hannah Berner and Des Bishop Talk Engagement and 'Summer House' Drama

Lindsay and Danielle ended the summer with a heated argument, but there could be a path forward for the two in their friendship. From there, Danielle went on to explain why she reacted the way that she did at their engagement party. "I was beside myself, and I was really hurt," she said.

When she doesn't have her hands full creating her fashion app, Donne, from the ground up, Danielle's social and love lives keep her very busy. "That was the best time, when he didn't have work!" Olivera recalls to PEOPLE. One veteran Summer House star was notably missing during the recent episode. Yes, the Hamptons were without Danielle Olivera and a preview clip for the April 4 episode revealed the reason she chose to be elsewhere during a particularly hectic weekend. Danielle went on to address whether she felt like she was projecting onto Lindsay and Carl since she was having problems with her own relationship.

"The first people I told this to were of course Lindsay and Carl. And their response was something like 'yayyyyy we told them we needed you there. We can't survive without you,'" Danielle recalled. "Okay maybe I embellished that one a bit. But I'd be lying to myself if I said they didn't have a part in this." Aside from Carl and Kyle, Danielle did not know anyone else before filming this past summer, so it makes sense that she would be overwhelmed by the reality TV experience at times. In the trailer for Season 2 of Summer House, Danielle declared, "I saw so much I can't unsee" when someone does a flip into the pool without any clothes on.

In a 2022 interview with Showbiz CheatSheet, she revealed that she has a finance background but switched to a focus on technology more than five years ago. Olivera told the outlet that she combined her two fields to work in the "FinTech industry." "What I do there is I'm a product manager," she said. "I really just work with all the coders to build software for the financial industry." After this comment, Amanda comes back from the shower where she was comforting Gabby, and Paige subs in to go look after her. A frazzled Danielle only talks to Amanda for a second before leaving the room. Both Amanda and Paige read this to mean that Danielle doesn’t take Amanda seriously as a person.

The Donne app co-founder shares that “a lot of things were squashed” over the summer. She says the reconciliation happened over the summer while they filmed season 8 of Summer House. I'd be lying if I didn't say I have an imposter syndrome. Where I struggle is with being a CEO and all of the things that come with that that I had no idea about — all of the financial aspects, raising money, hiring and firing. We're definitely moving slower than I would like, and that's a struggle for me, too, because I'm very much a workaholic and I want everyone to work at the same pace.

Danielle pushes Gabby too far

"When a hot chef comes to your table, you notice," she told Showbiz Cheat Sheet of her then-boyfriend in March 2021. "I didn't know what was going to happen, but I knew I really liked him. And so here we are." Danielle and Joe have continued to see each other since then, with Joe traveling to New York City for Danielle's birthday week in December 2023. He was there for her 35th birthday party and documented their super cute city date nights on his Instagram story. "We have such a good balance, so it doesn't ever feel public — because once it does, you might do stuff in the relationship that isn't authentic to the relationship," Olivera told The List in July 2022.

Paige's Potential Role in the Drama Between Danielle and Lindsay

When the party moves indoors after hours, it fizzles a bit, but that mostly has to do with Danielle. She sits down with Gabby and asks her if she’s flirting with anyone. Gabby says that everyone acts as if she’s incapable of it.

"I just wished I could have been in a better place going into it," Olivera says. "The way the engagement happened is more of the reason for my reaction because I just wasn't involved at all. No one wants to see Lindsay get engaged more than I do. I've always been rooting for her and it would've been nice to be more a part of it." Though Danielle said she has enjoyed her time on Summer House, it is "a serious time commitment." "If I can't be there to give 100+%, that isn't fair to the amazing cast and crew that give it their all to make this show great," she wrote. “I feel like I came in here, and us being Hispanic, immediately I’m like, ‘That’s my hermana.

She explained that though she had hoped to spend the whole summer with her friends at that start of the season, her career in financial technology comes first. "Going into last summer I wanted nothing more than to be back in the house every weekend. But I knew it would be incredibly difficult for me to balance my career and filming," Danielle said. "I had a lot of work travel and a work schedule that was inflexible at the time. If you know me, you know my career is what's most important to me and something I won't jeopardize." After the alien party, Kyle and Carl clean up, and Carl talks about his conversation with Lindsay the night before.

However, as a social media subculture and style, dark academia draws widely from the muted appearance of Old World libraries and 1900s-era academic excellence. The aesthetic is influenced by European Gothic architecture—particularly from prestigious universities like Oxford, Harvard, and Yale. Dark academia incorporates elements from prep schools of the period and repurposes them in a darker, more modern context.

These contrasting features make choosing between an old house and a modern one a matter of personal preference and lifestyle needs. The differences extend to room layout, maintenance costs, and energy efficiency. Each type has its own appeal, with old houses showcasing character and architectural details, and modern houses prioritizing efficiency and functionality. In comparing old and modern houses, differences in energy efficiency become evident through advancements in window technology and insulation. Modern houses typically feature thicker, dual-pane windows and superior insulation, enhancing energy efficiency.

Lighting and Atmosphere

These floors are designed to withstand the test of time, with the ability to be sanded and refinished multiple times, ensuring that they maintain their pristine appearance even after years of use. Unlike engineered wood, solid hardwood can handle heavy wear and tear without losing its original charm, making it a long-lasting option for those seeking both style and resilience in their flooring. Like you might find in an old library, the sophistication of dark academia is achieved by the addition of some really smart elements. The classic appeal of shiny brass accents will introduce an elegant touch, and brighten the overall feel.

Dark Academia appeals for its fusion of intellectualism, aesthetic allure, and cultural sophistication. It captivates with a romanticized pursuit of knowledge, traditional elegance, and artistic endeavors. This allure transcends mere style, inspiring a deeper connection with personal growth and refinement. Channeling the brooding atmosphere of Poe’s works, items inspired by the iconic writer and his poem “The Raven” infuse spaces with a sense of mystery and the macabre. This decor pays homage to the darker aspects of human nature and literature, creating a space that feels both contemplative and slightly unsettling. Walls adorned with blueprints of historic buildings, astrological art prints, or classical oil paintings become canvases telling stories of human achievement, celestial mysteries, and artistic genius.

It’s a subculture that’s been all over TikTok and the internet at large, coveted for its moody aesthetic inspired by gothic architecture, libraries, tweed outfits, and preppy nostalgia. It evokes images of late-night discussions over literature, philosophy, and the complexities of life. This set, when not in use, stands as a bold statement piece that complements the dark, rich tones typical of Dark Academia decor, inviting you to take a moment, pour yourself a drink, and reflect. When incorporating patterns, consider mixing and matching them to create a visually engaging and layered look. Choose patterns that resonate with the cozy and mysterious atmosphere of Dark Academia while adding depth and character to your decor. Earthy tones such as browns and autumnal colors work very well through decor, vintage trinkets or even through a display of dried flowers.

Authenticity is key with vintage elements, layered rich textures, and moody lighting for introspection. Embracing the allure of vintage and antique décor infuses a space with an unparalleled sense of history and sophistication. Antique furniture, vintage art, and historical artifacts are fundamental in creating an authentic Dark Academia aesthetic. Pieces like gothic-style benches, chesterfield sofas, and vintage maps play a crucial role in enhancing the moody atmosphere typical of this style. Incorporating antique furniture pieces like mahogany desks, leather armchairs, and brass floor lamps infuses a sense of history and sophistication into the room. Moody lighting sources, such as vintage-inspired chandeliers and flickering candles, add a warm and intimate ambiance, perfect for quiet moments of reflection.

Another tip is to scout for discarded materials that have the potential to be decor pieces. For instance, old leather belts can become unique book straps, and worn-out suitcases can be stylish storage. These DIY and upcycling projects provide an affordable path to dark academia interior design and allow for a personal touch that makes the space customized to its owner. Crafting the ideal ambiance is paramount in realizing the essence of dark academia, necessitating careful consideration of lighting choices. Strike a balance between overhead illumination and the soft, intimate glow of table lamps to orchestrate the desired atmosphere. Introducing dimmer switches grants effortless control over brightness levels, allowing for seamless adjustments tailored to personal preferences and specific occasions.

Old buildings often lack modern technology and energy efficiency, while modern buildings prioritize sleek designs, eco-friendly materials, and advanced systems. Central heating, smart thermostats, and energy-efficient lighting are standard in modern houses, ensuring comfort and cost savings. High-speed internet connectivity is a common inclusion, along with automated lighting controls for effortless customization. In modern housing, the disparities in technology and amenities between old and contemporary residences are stark, influencing daily living experiences significantly. Modern homes boast advanced features like smart home systems, energy-efficient appliances, and integrated security systems, providing convenience and peace of mind. To capture this distinguished style that you might find in an old university, it's essential to incorporate lots of deeply coloured, natural and durable materials like wood and leather.

Where Was Danielle Olivera During the Last Summer House Episode?

He gets where she’s coming from, wanting him to be a bit more employed, but he’s saying just what many in the comments section said last week; it’s not like Lindsay has much more of a job. I liked that Carl put some numbers to show how much they’re making being “influencers.” Lindsay pulled down $150,000 the year before in paid post, and Carl netted $70,000 mostly because he’s a dude and has fewer followers (but not by a ton). I would guess they’re also both making around $200,000-$300,000 a season on the show. In fact, it is far more than the average American makes (though the average American is not paying New York City rent or has Carl’s tight-pants budget). Danielle Olivera first joined "Summer House" as a main cast member in Season 2, but she scaled back to "friend" status a few summers later to focus on her real-life career.

Lindsay Hubbard to Carl Radke: “I Know I Want to Have Your Children”

In the closing seconds of Part 2, a text that Carl sent to Andy flashed on the screen. In the final few minutes of the reunion, Lindsay acknowledged that she doesn't think that Danielle has "bad intentions" regarding her relationship with Carl. And while Carl and Lindsay wouldn't share who would be on their wedding guest list from the Summer House cast, both Lindsay and Danielle said they want to move forward. "I, of course, can understand why her feelings would be hurt," Lindsay said. "I would also want to be a part of any of my friends' big, monumentous [sic] milestone occasions."

"In my mind, I would have loved to have been the person to organize a lot of it. I would have loved to be the person to [be involved] in any way, shape, or form." Though Danielle and Lindsay weren't on the best of terms throughout the summer, the fashion app co-founder was still hurt when she learned that Carl had proposed to Lindsay without telling her. "I didn't reach out to Danielle. I wasn't sure that it was confirmed, to be honest..." Lindsay explained, adding that Danielle had been spending time in Aspen, which is where Robert works in the winter, so she wasn't sure if the two had gotten back together.

Danielle pushes Gabby too far

Whenever anybody in a minority speaks out, it's so important, and it makes everyone feel more heard, so thank you for having those conversations. I'm pretty busy for the most part, and when you give me a cocktail in a bottle, I'm yours. Nerd alert, but I love that it's in a plastic bottle because it's easier to travel around with. I'm, as you know, in between the Hamptons and my place in Brooklyn and everywhere in between, so it's a nice, easy grab-and-go. And [it's] a crowd pleaser for when you have people over. "Ultimately, we do love each other," she says of that crew.

Lindsay is one of those women who quits her job to raise the kids but then can’t find a brand of organic apple sauce she likes so she invents her own, markets it, and then sells it to Nestle for $30 million in four years. She’s a hustler; she likes to work, and she has lots of energy. He’s always struggled professionally since we met him in his More Life days. Danielle wants Gabby to employ the strategy that works for her, and Gabby just wants everyone to get off her damn jock already.

"You might be doing it for other people versus yourselves. I like that even though we're out there, we still maintain this bubble." However, Olivera told PEOPLE that she believes Lindsay not prioritizing their friendship is what ended them. "This is the first time Lindsey and I have gone a week without speaking to each other," Danielle revealed in a confessional.

In case you need a refresher, Danielle felt like she had been cut out of Carl and Lindsay's lives when the latter two began dating, while Lindsay wasn't happy when Danielle questioned how fast the pair was moving in their relationship. Paige even poked fun at Danielle’s claims of being the CEO of a new app after Danielle suggested that due to her title, she’s forced to learn how to handle different personalities. Olivera hoped that "as their best friend, they would let me in a little bit more on that, but I felt like it was them against the world." That sentiment held true of Hubbard and Radke's engagement, which took place in The Hamptons amid filming in August. Hubbard, 36, and Radke, 38, had moved in together after a little more than six months of dating and just before filming began last summer. "They knew that their relationship would be put under a microscope [on Summer House], having seen Kyle [Cooke] and Amanda [Batula]'s relationship be put under a microscope, and they wanted to be as close to perfect as possible."

"I've never not talked to her about outfits for the weekend. 'Oh, what are you gonna wear for Kyle's 40th?' Just even little things. I don't even know what to think about it because it's never happened." In a confessional, Lindsay explained, "There is a compromise that goes with being in a relationship. And I think I'm just doing the best that I can to support Carl but also I'm here to have fun like I do every other summer." To mark the special evening, Danielle donned a multicolor beaded crop top with matching cropped pants. Other attendees for the party included Carl Radke, Ciara Miller, Paige DeSorbo and her boyfriend, Craig Conover.

Gabby is a slower burn, and even if she just wants to hook up with a guy, she needs to know him and like him. I hope that we have momentum this summer and can put something out. It's something that I feel strongly about because it's an app that I want to use to help me get ready every day.

The duo moved into a Brooklyn apartment together in December 2021, though Robert was working in Aspen, Colorado in the winter and in Montauk in the summer. When they weren't busy running their own respective empires, the couple was traveling the world together, going everywhere from Mexico to Manhattan. Danielle Olivera addresses her love triangle with Alex Propson during the Winter House Season 3 reunion.

Danielle was fresh off the heels of her breakup with Robert Sieber when she joined the cast of Winter House for Season 3, shacking up with other Bravolebrities for an unforgettable vacation in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. In the wake of the breakup, Olivera, who has also fallen out with former BFFs Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke, has been leaning on her other Summer House costars. Olivera went on to explain that she still considers Seiber "a great person" despite their split. She even still keeps photos of him on her grid, as does he. "We broke up towards the end of last year," says Olivera, who last appeared with Sieber at BravoCon 2022 in October. "It just wasn't working out. You know, it sucks because there's no animosity. It's just sad, honestly, that we couldn't figure it out."

She’s like my sister already.’ I just had this connection with her,” Chris added. The Summer House cast members quickly connected on Season 7, and Danielle revealed why. (What is that? A thorny picture, I guess?) Carl says that their fights get so intense that he wonders if he is the right person for Lindsay. Lou says, “That is not indicative of a healthy relationship.” He’s right! I think in the aftermath of the breakup, it became clear that neither of them was right for the other and that, other than bad behavior from one side, is why they eventually broke up. I'm definitely a good preparer, but I don't know if I have it in me.

Danielle is right to tell her these things, but that is the next morning over a bacon, egg, and cheese conversation, not right in the middle of the party when the beer tears are going to flow the conversation. Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Robert is Robert Sieber, an executive chef whom Danielle started dating just weeks before she started filming Summer House last year, after meeting him at an intimate dinner party he catered. He temporarily moved into the house for the end of summer, as viewers saw last week, and Danielle is excited for people to see more of him in the final episodes to come.

Welcome to the Summer House Season 8, Episode 10 recap! In this week’s episode, titled “The Parent Trap,” Danielle makes Gabby cry and refuses to apologize. Carl tells Kyle that Lindsay wants him to “hustle” and make money, so she can be a stay-at-home mom, something they hadn’t previously talked about. Carl admits to his mom and stepdad that he’s afraid of Lindsay’s temper, and Carl’s stepdad advises him to reconsider getting married right now.

The thing about founders and CEOs is that a successful one would never call herself that. It’s like someone who calls themselves an entrepreneur because they sold an old Uniqlo top on DePop, or someone who is a curator because they organized a friend’s closet. After their conversation, Gabby gets those beer tears right out and sobs in the shower stall while calling her sister on the phone.

Gabby wants to be pursued, and that’s fine, but then she needs to not complain so much about how she doesn’t have a dude. If she’s going to go her usual route and maintain her high standards — which she should — it’s going to take a bit longer. I do agree with Danielle, however, that she didn’t seem so flirty with Joe the Balloon Guy, and she often comes across as closed off.
